Mission Statement
The Winona Hims are dedicated to the quality singing of gospel, patriotic, and other music, both old and new, for the purpose of uplifting and encouraging God's people. We are a not-for-profit organization which delights in dedicating all profits realized from our efforts to charities and needy individuals in the greater Winona area.
About Us
Representing a variety of churches in the Winona area, we are a group of men that band together with one purpose: the common enjoyment of singing gospel music. It is our goal to sing for church services, charity events, and benefits an average of once per month. Our membership is comprised of men from all ages and walks of life.
We have two major events each year: a "Fall Show" of three concerts on the third Friday and Saturday of September and a "Christmas Concert" of two performances the second Sunday of December. The two-hour fall show is memorized and includes guest artists. Recipient selection, fundraising, advertising, ticket sales and house preparation are all done by The Winona Hims members. The one-hour Christmas concerts are not memorized and typically have special numbers from an area soloist or group.
Ninety-minute rehearsals are held on Tuesday evenings from January to the Christmas concert. We wear tuxedos for most singing events but occasionally sport polo shirts and black trousers for less formal or very warm weather venues.
We have a board of directors to guide financial and business decisions as well as policies. The director is an ex-officio member of the board. The entire membership votes on the scheduling of singing events. |
